Located on the most southerly tip of Africa, South Africa is a country with a population of over 55 million people. The state is well-known not only for its natural beauty but also its turbulent history, with apartheid dominating the country for decades. The capital city is Pretoria, and the currency is the South African rand.
South Africa, or officially known as the Republic of South Africa, is located in southern Africa, as the name of the country itself suggests. It is the 23rd most populous country in the world as more than 59 million people live here.
The interesting part about South Africa is that it doesn’t have 1 capital city, but rather three – Pretoria (executive), Bloemfontein (judicial), and Cape Town (legislative). The largest city, however, is Johannesburg.
